Command Reference

CommandArgumentsDescription
analyze_ssh_confignoneAnalyze SSH configuration and keys
check_authorized_keysnoneCheck authorized_keys content
generate_key[key_type] [comment]Generate new SSH key

How It Works

  1. Directory Scan: Scans ~/.ssh directory for all keys and configs
  2. Key Analysis: Analyzes key types, permissions, and security
  3. Config Reading: Reads and parses SSH config files
  4. Key Generation: Uses OpenSSH's ssh-keygen for secure key generation

Prerequisites

  • OpenSSH client installed (for ssh-keygen command)
  • Read/Write access to ~/.ssh directory
  • Network access for cloud backup (optional)

Note: Python is NOT required - the binary is self-contained.

Integration Example

# Analyze current SSH configuration
result=$(./ssh-keygen-helper-1.0.0_mac analyze_ssh_config)
echo "SSH Analysis: $result"

# Generate a new Ed25519 key
./ssh-keygen-helper-1.0.0_mac generate_key ed25519 "dev@company.com"

# Check authorized keys
auth_keys=$(./ssh-keygen-helper-1.0.0_mac check_authorized_keys)
if echo "$auth_keys" | grep -q "error"; then
    echo "No authorized_keys configured"
fi

Self-contained binary for SSH key management - No Python required!
